6. Safety Features

The Optima Steamer has a full-fledged failsafe six-stage protection.

1. Thermostat

The machine’s temperature is set between 194˚F ~ 212˚F. This prevents any false pressure reading while operating the machine.

2. Automatic Air Purge System

Optima Steamers are equipped with an electronic valve that purges air to avoid false pressure reading. If the thermostat reads below 212˚F, this triggers the electronic valve to open.

In this situation, the machine automatically assumes that the high pressure is a result of internal air. The machine will automatically switch from user mode to operating mode and will open the electronic valve to remove internal air.

3. Pressure Control Switch

The machine's pressure switch is preset to 8 bar (116 psi). If at any time during washing operations, the steam pressure exceeds 8 bar, the heaters will shut off. If the steam pressure falls below 8 bar, the heaters will automatically reactivate. The machine is also preset to 10 bar (145 psi) for the safety device in an emergency only.

4. Safety Valve

Pressure is released when steam pressure exceeds 9.5 bar (138 psi).

5. Low Water Probe Sensor

If there is not enough water in the steam vessel, the water probe sensor prevents the vessel from heating.

6. Non-Return Valves

The two non-return valves prevent steam from back drafting.

7. Y-Strainer

If a freeze rupture occurs, the Y-strainer which is connected to the steam drain is designed to break first before other important parts.

8. Water Pump Running Time

In normal operations, to avoid dry running, the machine is programmed to shut off after running for 40 seconds.

9. Programmed Operating

Optima Steamers are programmed with an intelligent system that checks the condition of the machine and takes the necessary steps to prepare the machine for a safe operation.

10. Emergency Stop

In case of a failure in the product or an emergent situation, the operator can push the emergency stop button to shut off all electrical power sequences inside the main power enclosure. To resume operation, twist the button clockwise.

The Optima Steamer XD is also very fuel-efficient. The diesel burner will only ignite to maintain operating pressure during use. So, the diesel burner isn’t always firing or constantly consuming fuel.

If the boiler burner did continuously fire, roughly 1.1 gallons of diesel would burn per hour (very unlikely for this to happen).

Taking a typical workday of 8 hours, if you ran your machine continuously, roughly 2 - 3 gallons of diesel would be used for continuous cleaning operations.
