Frequently Asked Questions About Pressure Washers

How long does it take, on average, to set up a pressure washer?

A new install takes about 3 to 6 hours.

Is everything cleaned at the same pressure?

The short answer is no. We recommend using 1200 PSI on home care like the outside of your house and window washing. We recommend 3000 PSI and up for heavy industrial cleaning that needs extra strength. NorTex supplies everyone from homeowners to people handling industrial cleaning.

Where is the best place to store my pressure washer?

We strongly recommend keeping your pressure washer indoors, covered, and in an insulated area. This will help keep your machine from experiencing potential damages from the wind, rain and most importantly freezing temperatures.

What kind of oil can I add to a pressure washer pump?

30 Weight Non-detergent

Can I use bleach through my pressure washer?

Yes. They make special injectors so you don't have to run harsh chemicals through your pressure washer pump.

How long are pressure washer hoses?

We have many options, pressure washers usually comes with a 50 foot hose. Here at NorTex we offer hoses up to 75 and 100 foot and more to get the job done.

How many different nozzles are there for pressure washing?

There are four standard spray pattern nozzles for pressure washer users (0, 15, 25, 40, degrees) and a variety of specialized nozzles. These standard spray nozzles represent the hole size where the water disperses. There are many specialized nozzle that can help your pressure washing be more efficient:

- Rotating Turbo Nozzle
- Sewer nozzle
- Tank cleaning nozzles
- Acid injecting nozzles
- High Low Nozzles
- Steam Nozzles
- Rollover nozzles
- Adjustable Spray Pattern Nozzle
- and many more!!

Each nozzle has a different purpose for use. Talk to a NorTex expert to find out which nozzle is right for your job.
What is the difference between PSI and GPM?

The answer depends on your pressure cleaning application. When you have heavy soils to wash, GPM (gallons per minute) can be most important. When you have stuck-on grime, PSI (pounds per square inch of pressure) can be most important.

Despite what you see in advertisements or on a product label, volume is the deciding factor and a quality pressure cleaning system will provide the proper balance of volume and pressure. Nozzle type, heat, and detergents can multiply your cleaning effectiveness several times over.

What parts of a pressure washer wear out quicker than others?

Quick connects and thermal relief are parts of the pressure washer that break the easiest. Miscare of pressure washers is the main reason for these parts to break.
