Pressure washers can be used in a multitude of ways to help restore things to a high-quality level of cleanliness. Operating a pressure washer requires patience and a thorough understanding of the equipment to ensure proper cleaning and safety.

Here are a few mistakes to avoid while operating a pressure washer:

using too much pressure

One of the most common errors when operating a pressure washer is using too much pressure. Controlling the pressure is essential to a proper clean. Different items will need different amounts of pressure, for example, if you are pressure washing your vehicle it is best to use a lower PSI for the body of the vehicle and a higher PSI for the tires and rims.

not using the proper nozzle

There are a variety of nozzles that attach to your pressure washer to help provide the correct PSI. The nozzles change the way in which the water is distributed.

not using detergent

Detergents work in tandem with pressure washers to thoroughly clean items properly. Be sure to use a detergent that is made for your specific pressure washer. Using the wrong detergent can potentially damage your pressure washer.

not testing the areas

Before starting a pressure washer job, you should test a small patch of the area you will be cleaning. Certain areas will need a different pressure or cannot withstand the intensity of a pressure washer. Before beginning to pressure wash a large area, start with a smaller patch and then make any adjustments needed based on that.

With these tips in mind, you will be able to properly operate your pressure washer with ease.
